Why I can’t wait to read…

Why I can’t wait to read The Sword of Summer (Magnus Chase And The Gods of Asgard #1).

Recently I have been investing my time in teaching myself about Norse Mythology.

Sure, Greek Mythology and Greek Gods are beyond fabulous but my love for the Avengers led me to investigate a whole new, folk religion; one created many years ago by the Norsemen or North Germanic people during the Viking age.

The Norse natives didn’t specifically have a name for their religion. The only names used to refer to it were used in a competitive and hostile manner. Some called it “Old Custom”.

The Gods of this religion all live in Asgard and keep the peace over the nine realms; Asgard, Vanaheim, Alfheim, Midgard (or “Middle Earth”, home of the humans connected to Asgard by a rainbow bridge which is shown in the movie Thor.), Jotunheim, Svartfheim, Nidavellir, Niflheim and Muspelheim.

Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother’s mysterious death, he’s lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers.

One day, he’s tracked down by a man he’s never met—a man his mother claimed was dangerous. The man tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god.

The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.

When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision.

Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die . . .

Sadly I haven’t read Rick’s other series yet (they are on my list. I promise) but given the amazing cover and captivating blurb I am absolutely mesmerised by the idea of bringing Norse Gods to life like this I honestly cannot thank this man enough.
I just hope you’re all as excited as I am.

I honestly doubt that this will show any resemblance to the way Marvel depict Thor, Loki, Odin and all other Norse mythological creatures across the nine realms but that doesn’t go to say that I will enjoy this book any less, as I am always open to new ideas and it is always great to see how other people, especially authors view the same things as you, since we all see things differently and that’s just beautiful.

For anyone wanting further insight on some characters, I found these;

Goodbye for now.

Hopefully, I will get myself a copy of the book once it is released and tell you all about it once I have read it.

This review is not by authors request, rather done on my own accord, due to my excitement, strange love for Norse Mythology  and the name Magnus.

Also if you want to further your knowledge on Norse mythology, you can go to this website here and also here, they have everything you need to know to become an expert on Norse Mythology (and are also where I got my information from).
